Maidenhead · Cookham · Berkshire
A South African artist at home in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Donna White paints at Whitecroft Studios in Maidenhead, a few minutes from Cookham and the Thames. Born in South Africa and trained at the University of Natal, she has been painting for fifty years. Over 500 of her paintings now hang in collections around the world, from Mozambique to Zurich and Vancouver to Hamburg.
Her work is known for bold colour and layered texture: abstract landscapes, portraits, figures and florals. Many were inspired by the river, fields and light of the Thames Valley. In 2014 she held IMAGINARIUM, a solo show at Bracknell Gallery, South Hill Park.
"Summer escape" explores the Thames between Maidenhead and Henley, "where islands lend texture to the reflections all around. The river is alive with movement."
